Hi all, I am new to the forum and new to QFF also and yet to cash in any points, can anyone tell me what points would be required after May to do this return flight? currently 80 000 points will do the job. I have had a look at the QFF site but get lost in confusion. I have read here that the Syd/Hon leg would be less points, but I am guessing the Per/Syd leg will be more.

As a comparison the Perth/ Sydney/Lax flight point cost would be handy to know also.

Thanks

Thom

Hey Thom

Hi all, I am new to the forum and new to QFF also and yet to cash in any points, can anyone tell me what points would be required after May to do this return flight? currently 80 000 points will do the job. I have had a look at the QFF site but get lost in confusion. I have read here that the Syd/Hon leg would be less points, but I am guessing the Per/Syd leg will be more.

Just doing some quick calculations for you regarding the above.

Current system, this will require 80,000 points, as you stated correctly.

Post 25 May, this will increase to 108,000, with the breakdown as follows:

Per-Syd (ret) is zone 3 travel, which requires 36,000 points.
Syd-Hon (ret) is zone 6 travel which requires 72,000 points. (less than 80,000 currently)
Total being 108,000 points.

As a comparison the Perth/ Sydney/Lax flight point cost would be handy to know also.

Current system, this requires 110,000 points.

Post 25 May, this will increase to 132,000 points, with the breakdown as follows:

Per-Syd (ret) is 36,000 points, as above.
Syd-LAX (ret) is zone 8 travel, which requires 96,000 points.
Total being 132,000 points.

This info is available in the Ultimate Qantas thread, prepared by Lindsay Wilson, under the Qantas Frequent Flyer secion of this website.

Hope this helps. :)

Cheers

Actually Thom, if you can avoid stopovers in SYD and do PER-SYD-HNL and HNL-SYD-PER as two "Trips" you will be "doing" 7,115 miles each way. That's Zone 8 travel and is 48,000 points each way; a total of 96,000.

The same with PER-SYD-LAX return. It's 9,582 miles each way and Zone 9 @ 56,000 per trip; a total of 112,000 points.
