Per to Sin Upgrade with velocity points

Hi All
Im looking at booking flights from Perth to Singapore. I can book through either virgin or singapore (singapore air operated flight). Looking to be able to use my velocity points to upgrade to business. Is this possible?
If so which who should i book with. would prefer virgin as points are with velocity. otherwise would have to transfer points to kris.
had a read of a similar post and it sounds like its not possible. just wanted to see either way or if anyone knew a trick or two!

Upgrades are only possible on VA operated flights

You can transfer your velocity points to krisflyer and then use them to upgrade. Make sure you book an upgradeable fare with SQ.
