Qantas sent me an email this morning titled "Personalised Points Target"

161922

Clicked on the link and:

161924

so what are these rewards you ask:

161925

Not much of an incentive, but if you had a low points earn last year, it would be easy to get 5k more points without trying too hard. But spending $5k extra for a $10 reward isnt worth it imo.

Curious as to how many others got this offer?

I received an email from Qantas this morning offering a "My Bonus Reward" challenge.

The best way to explain it is to quote part of the email below:
"You’re part of a select group invited to participate in My Bonus Reward, a new way we’re rewarding members for reaching Points Targets*.

If you're up for the challenge, all you need to do is earn a few points more than you did in your last membership year to reach your personalised Points Target. You’ll then get to choose one of three free gifts, plus keep the points you have earned. But hurry, you only have until 31 July 2019."

31 July is my Qantas membership anniversary date. I need to earn just under 15,000 points by then, which would bring my total points earn for the year to 10,000 points more than last year.

The three gifts on offer are:
1. $20 David Jones digital gift card
2. $20 Caltex digital gift card
3. 3000 bonus Qantas points

I'm not a big points earner and 15,000 will be a bit of a stretch, even spread over 3 months. And the gifts are fairly small, so I probably won't go out of my way to try to earn them.

Just wondering, has anyone else received a similar offer?

I'd be interested to know how they've calculated the 'incentive'....

On one had one member has to earn ~150k points for $10 / 1,500 point and on the other hand, 15,000 points for $20 / 3,000 points. I understand that it's based on prior year earns etc, but seems strange that there can be such a different valuation put on this.

Yeah for such a huge earn required on my part Id expect way more than 1500 points, and it is mean spirited to offer someone double the incentive for 1/10th of the earn they want me to get to.

I had two credit card sign-on bonuses last year, which topped up my points earn significantly (55k and 75k) and as I had reduced fly earn as my big international flights were all classic rewards last year so no didnt earn point of SCs.

I think they'd do better to set challenge based on points earned only from flying - I have more paid flights this year than last.
