Just checking that PJs are still provided in J (I have assumed that my upgrade wont come through) on QF12 LAX-SYD.

Is that correct?

Just doing final packing and wondering if I need PJs in hand luggage...

Flights classed as night flight - YES
Any flights where majority of travel is daytime - NO

I broadened out the OP just to cover other possibilities, simon.

Thanks :) crisis averted though as it looks like my upgrade has come through ;)

It's not on the list as supplied via FT , does anyone know if PJ's in J on QF 87 SYD- HKG? Flight seems to fulfill night flying requirements.

I would guess they are available. I have been provided PJ's on a day flight many times from BOM-SIN, no issues.

I find also that if they're not actively giving them out, smile at the FA nicely and ask and you'd be surprised at what you could get.

If not indicated then PJ's are unlikely to be distributed on the QF87 airbus.

As Flashware suggests, if they are not handing them out, just politely ask and most likely you will receive a pair. I woudl find it hard pressed to think a pair of PJ's is breaking QF's balance sheet when you are paying good dollar for the seat. They may not actively hand them out but I bet they have pairs in the locker.

That was how I got my last pair. I was on QF009 MEL-SIN in J (connecting to QF005 SIN-FRA but that leg was in whY) and when I explained my overnight leg was going to be in whY and some PJ's would help, she laughed and handed me a pair :p

YEs they can be extremely good at times. That reminds me when I was flying F and a work colleague was in Y+. I asked politely and received an extra F set of PJ's and amenity kit and they even took it down to him for me. They even allowed me to have him up in my suite for a meal which was great as was on the A 380.

I'll pack a spare pare just in case.
Thanks to everyone for the replies.
I'm happy to guest on that trip and have posted details in Sep 10 thread.

Just letting you know I was on QF52 BOM-SIN last Friday, it is a day flight and I inquired about PJ's. They said they store them on board but do not hand any out unless they are asked by a passenger for a set. They do however hand out a business amenity kit which IMO seems a lot less than normal, a pair of socks, eye shades, tooth brush and tooth paste and thats about it. I never bothered getting PJ's as was flying F on QF10 a few hours later and received my new brown F PJ's. I still think the old grey ones with the collar were better.

I always ask for my PJs in J as soon as I board as I generally want to change into them immediately and the crew don't hand them out until you are in the air (unlike in F).

That sound like a great idea, avoid the rush to the loo to get changed. I'll ask politely when I board.
