Place booking on hold - new feature for Business fares?

Similar to QF's "pay later" option, I've seen a new option turn up when booking a DJ Business flight. Basically I can put my booking I've just made "On-Hold" until Sunday.

Only details I've found so far:

Instant Payment or Book and Hold
Book and Hold is available online, or via the GCC and travel agents. Bookings can be put on hold for up to 72 hours without payment. Bookings made within 72 hours of the flight departure will require instant payment.

Also, only appears to apply to Business fares - not Flex, not Saver.

Virgin system is still pretty much LCC style and not much chop. QF system allows hold until day before flight and it applies to Business and full fare Y. Much better.

Nice little addition. Quite handy actually. I might even take advantage of it when deciding whether I can stomach using the current promo to do a Plat status run.

There seems to have been a few very quiet changes. Perhaps we'll be receiving a newsletter email tomorrow about it all

On Hold has been available for PE fares over a year ago, unlike the QF option you only get a few days to pay rather than the hold lasting until a few days before the flight.

There is a benefit though over QF - no payment required, compared to QF's non-refundable $25 deposit.

I put a booking on hold but now can't cancel it. The cancel button doesn't work.

Not sure if it's a Mac thing? Everything else works in chrome for Mac.

I gather the booking will just drop off tomorrow if I don't pay.


Also just noticed if your using Mac - since Poli bank payments doesn't work they will refund CC fees. Just have to call guest contact cent.

The way to look at it is ... they can't prove you weren't using a Mac!

This was discussed in another thread, but I can't recall which one. I believe though they will refund CC fees back to some time last year (Oct or Nov from memory, but not 100% sure).

The refunds are relatively prompt, and you can do as many as you like in the one phone call.
