As per the title, I was trying to book some flights via amex travel to use the flight credit and they blocked the charge. Since then the same seats are now selling for 1k more than what they were declined at (5.5k vs 6.5k+ now).
FWIW I was shocked that they declined the charge since my balance at the time was ~$1500, especially since given my income if I had an actual credit card I would no doubt be able to get a 15k+ limit, and my months spending including these seats would still have been sub 10k, so not sure what they were thinking at all. On top of this I was going to use the travel credit which takes the purchase down to 5k so like I said, really surprised it declined.
Anyway, I know that this is not specifically covered under anything Amex offers, but has anyone here ever heard of them doing something out of good will in a scenario like this? Is it worth filing a complaint at all? It was massively annoying seeing as I had been watching these seats for a while and don't know when they will go back to those prices (although either way will likely bite the bullet and buy them anyway, it just stings knowing that I am overpaying for nothing other than amex shenanigans).
