After my recent month long trip to the U.S (just got back last Sunday) where I flew around getting enough S.C's to re qualify, (LAX-DFW-FLL, FLL-ORD-BOS, LAX-LAS etc on A.A instant upgrade First Class)you can imagine my delight when I got back to Aus, checked the snail mail and found that Qantas had graciously extended my Platinum for another year anyway.
(The letter from them was dated before I'd racked up all the S.C's needed)
Absolutely chuffed I was,we even got an Op-Up both ways.
So, thanks to all the help getting the routing sorted, I wonder if they would extend it again next year if I happen to fall short?
The BNE-LAX 747's are getting awfully tired looking.

Congratulations on getting Platinum status again.

I have now been comped Platinum 3 years in a row before I had fully qualified (even though I qualified in my own right before reassessment date) so there is no reason why it cannot happen again next year. The status comp appears to be reset when you do actually attain enough SCs.

Agree, John: same thing happens to me, although for the last 2 years I've had the 50SCs offer as well. Last year I needed it, this year I didn't.

Congrats on the re-qual.

They sure are, I thnk some have alredy departed QF and the remainder are to be replaced as more 380s come online. Eventually QF will only be left with the 9 744s (the 6ERs + 3 others - dont know which but presumably those in best condition!)
