Mrs F hit Velocity Platinum on 27th December 2011. Since then we have done a trip to the USA on AIR NZ, & I pooled my SCs to her, giving her a total of 540 Scs since the 27th. She has a quite a few trips in the next 5 weeks inc 2 BNE-PER return in Flex, 2 x Syd return in Flex & 1 x Circle Asia in J which is booked entirely on SIngapore. By my calculations she will have earned another 1500 Scs, giving her a total of over 2000 Scs in the 6 weeks since her qualification. She will sling me the companion Plat membership, but the main question I have is this....

If she requals as Plat by 4th of February, does her renewal date move to be 4th Feb 2013, giving her effectively only an extra month of membership of the plat level ie Feb 2012 to Feb 2013, or will Velocity recognise her flying and give her a total 23 months of Plat, ie Feb 2012 to Feb 2014?

If you have a Qantas membership, they work on a year + system. Ie if you hit Plat in the first month, you get that year & the following one as a Plat, then dropping to gold the year after.

I hope this makes sense, but we obviously want to maximise her benefits, and if there is no real point in requal again so quick, we may move her points to Air NZ for the remainder of the year.

The "reset date" only applies if you jump a tier. Therefore Mrs F will be Platinum from her current year until 27 Dec 2012, at which point she'll requalify as Platinum for a further 12 months. So effectively, once she has enough SCs for requal, that keeps her at Platinum until 27 Dec 2013.

FYI, you should consider whether you're better off using Family Pooling rather than shooting for Partner Platinum once she's hit her 800 SCs and requalified. She could then credit SCs to you directly. Bumping you to 1000 SCs directly (and then aiming to requalify YOU as Platinum before she needs to start recrediting to her own account beyond 27 Dec 2012) may be more cost effective.
