Hey guys

Hope you are all doing well.

Just wondering if there are many West Australians around who could give me some advice on a Status Credit Run to Platinum.

Facts:
My FFlyer year ends 31st of Jan 2012
Current Status:Silver
Flights booked for a trip to Chile and Brazil for 27th of July, this should bring me up to about 700SC.
will need to travel to Canberra at some point in the next few months.
was thinking about a long weekend holiday to Hong Kong for some shopping.

looking for suggestions of reasonably priced flights from Perth to give great SC's points.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Regards,

JK

Are you looking at using points to fly or $$$ as that will determine what you could do.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

if you are using $$$ only that will cost quite a bit from PER.

is your CBR trip in Y or J? in Y you could get about 120sc return (40+20+20+40) in Y.

Based on that you would still need around 580sc's.

Getting yourself to BNE to start a NAN run would be one option, or heading to Asia and spending a day or two in CX J.

A$2,360 will earn you 440 SCs (A$5.36 / SC) flying JQ 7/8 "Business Max" Mel/Pek/Mel and back. Maybe do the shopping in Beijing? Doesn't start until 24 Nov though. While you can fly from Per to Sin, it would only earn Y SCs of 50 each way instead of J SCs of 120 each way from Mel. From Per will save about A$100 but earn 140 SCs less. Sin to Pek in J is worth 100 SCs each way.

So the best SC earn would be to get a cheapie Per/Mel/Per and spend some time in Beijing while joining the WP club.

Hey guys.

thanks for the advice so far.

However i'm a bit of newbie with all these codes " y, j, cx " etc that you are referring to?

Is there somewhere i can go to find out what they all mean etc?

JK

Hi Nlagalle.

thanks for the info..

Also just had a mate start as a Travel Consultant for Flight Centre, I wonder if this might bring any benefits. :)

Unless they have access to discounted fares that the general public do not then not really.

You will find much more valuable info on here...there are certain routes and ways to maximise SC earn without spending lots of $$$.

Three popular status runs are BNE-NAN, TSV-DRW and CBR-HBA. None from PER unfortunately.

There are a couple of options from HKG, assuming a bit of time.
Royal Jordanian biz RT to BKK
A quick trip to TPE will find a TPE-HKG-PER RT at about AUD2300 on the CX Taiwan website.
TPE-HKG-SIN in business would be less than AUD700.

And it is always cheaper to buy QF in SIN than PER.

Happy wandering
