It appears that holders of Priority Pass memberships (often a credit card benefit) will no longer have access to Plaza Premium airport lounges, effective from 1 July 2021. Plaza Premium is the world's largest network of independent airport lounges.

Seems the loss isn't as pronounced for American Express Platinum Charge holders in Australia, as Plaza Premium lounge access is a benefit that is both included in Priority Pass and separate to it: The American Express Global Lounge Collection℠

Complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounges at over 50 locations.

As part of The American Express Global Lounge Collection, Platinum Card Members can enjoy unlimited, complimentary access to Plaza Premium lounges around the world.

This benefit is available to Platinum Card Members. Card Members receive complimentary access to any global location of Plaza Premium Lounges. Card Member must present his or her valid Card, a boarding pass showing a confirmed reservation for same-day travel on any carrier and government-issued I.D. In some cases, Card Member must be 21 years of age to enter without a parent or guardian. Card Members may bring up to 1 companion into Plaza Premium Lounges as complimentary guests. Card Member must adhere to all house rules of participating lounges. Card Members and his or her guests will receive all of the complimentary benefits and amenities afforded to the Plaza Premium Lounge customers, as well as access to purchase non-complimentary items. Some product features may be subject to additional charges. Plaza Premium Lounge locations are subject to change.

Compared to...

Relax in one of over 1000 lounges across over 130 countries.

As a Platinum Card holder, you are entitled to a complimentary membership in Priority Pass. This allows you to wait for your flight in a relaxed atmosphere in one of the more than 1,200 Priority Pass lounges around the world. You also can have a guest join you free of charge.

I note that Plaza Premium lists over 120 lounges, but Priority Pass gives access to over 1000 lounges, so it seems like it's not a massive loss in the grand scheme of things.

Priority Pass might have to give out more $ to spend in restaurants and cafes as opposed to the rubbish served in the plaza premium lounges.... might even be an improvement ;)

I suspect this will be more problematic at certain locations for PP holders who don't have an Amex Plat card. HKG for example comes to mind.

Slightly OT here, but did I see a 20%? AFF Priority Pass joining discount somewhere around the site @Mattg et al??

Any news on when the BNE plaza premium lounge will go back? I fly out Sunday.

Edit: 20th June.
