I got a Tripit reminder to check in for my flight from HKG to SYD tomorrow night. I was met with this set of info, which is new to me. I have searched and read a few threads on upgrades which talk about waitlisting, but this seems a bit different. Flight 2 shows PE waitlisted. Flight 3 shows Business confirmed, but status of upgrade 'Requested' and Flight 4 was my original Economy flight now cancelled.

To me this means the Business upgrade has been granted, but then why still show PE? Note also that Business has been allocated seats. Interestingly, the seat allocation in Business are not all together. Not the end of the world, but would it be possible to get QF to change them if I give them a call?

Am I getting my hopes up prematurely.

Note, I also signed up and checked CheckMyTrip. It is showing all the flights, but the Business is marked 'confirmed from waitlist'.

Sounds like business to me...but can't read the screenshot...too small for my eyes!

Trying to post screen shot again. I don't quite understand how the resizing operates or how to stop it.

I've called at this time and always gotten through...give it a go

Thanks. I just called. No help. All the person could or would tell me was to 'let it run it's course'. I am no wiser. I am keen to get in early to try to change seats to be together.

Based on the fact you've got J seats and it's confirmed, I'd say your J upgrade has indeed been successful.

I got the SMS at 5.30am to say the upgrade is confirmed. Unfortunately, there aren't three seats together, so we have 25A, B and J. That seems better to me than the original allocation of 25A and B, and 13E!

Does this mean you purchased economy seats and asked firstly for an upgrade to PE and then to J, or did you book a PE fare and requested an upgrade to J.
Asking as I am pondering whether to bock economy and hope for an upgrade to J or play it safe and book PE and request an upgrade to J

You can request an upgrade from flexi Y to W and flexi Y to J. You are considered for the J upgrade first, if that is unsuccessful then you are considered for W.

I concur ... business upgrade to U is only segment showing 'confirmed'.

Original booking class was V -it's been cancelled.

I guess the plan B to upgrade to Permium Economy (Z) should Business upgrade not be available is/was not required so still 'waitlisted'.

It may be by now the Z and V segments will have disappeared.
