Well, Whyalla to Adelaide has just succeeded to top my most lumpy bumpy flight I have been on, the Saab became boat on takeoff succeeding in ruining my undies (well nearly), we had a mix of thunder, lightening and many many speed humps in the sky!

Would have been a great flight today. Interesting landing last night in ADL in a 738.

I've flown to OLP in similar weather in a metro that was fun.

Thanks munitalP.

I had no idea what the thread was about from the title.

Good one though.

OLP has ruined it's fair share of undies ;)

It continues....

QF692 ADL/MEL. Sat at the gate for quite a while - maybe 40-50 minutes then the pilot announced the plane had a lightening strike coming into ADL and the engineers were inspecting the aircraft.

A while later he announced again that the entry hole had been found, but no exit hole. The electrical engineer in me thinks this is a little sus - during the lightening strike, the AC becomes the same potential as the lightening - however million volts then the lightening leaves the AC through usually a pointy object happily on its way to wreak havoc on earth. For Volts to have Current in this situation, the strike must have been in final stages of descent where the AC could become a path of unequal potential with the lightening thus creating a situation where there is current and grounding - very unlikely.

Anyway, Im sitting in the ADL QP quietly fuming, as the departure time is now listed 10 minutes before the last ADL/MEL flight, and that flight is full.

My 3K in a regional 767 was enjoyable while we sat on the ground... :(

I finally boarded a 738 in 1A, a long time after the last scheduled ADL/MEL had been and gone. Once on board, you wouldn't believe it, but some miserable sod had deliberately missed the flight, so we sat at the gate for another 25 minutes waiting for their luggage to be found and off loaded. I hope QANTAS bill this cough for the losses incurred due to his impatience.

Once off the ground, a fast flight of 55 minutes during which I managed a Salmon dinner.

QANTAS - 10/10 for the way the situation in total was handled, the PAX were kept informed the whole way... minus several thousand for the ADL lounge dragon who:

1. Refused to put me on the later flight (which left an hour earlier) - I will be ringing QF about this as the J PAX when I finally flew were NOT the J PAX of earlier, so they had been bumped to the later flight that left earlier (I had carry on only BTW)
2. Was quite out of her depth when trying to let PAX know what was happening, she got angry at having to repeat herself and that was a FAIL

Overall, walking into home at midnight was a downer, and I hated everything about yesterday from immediately after leaving the pub where I had lunch till getting home. A bonus is, FOXTEL IQ2 had recorded the game for me and I saw my beloved Saints kick some cough Cat butt!
