Point plus payment option?

Hi everyone. First i'd like to say thanks for a great website, really is informative!

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend, is it possible to book an airfare with say half frequent flyers and half cash?

I thought this was an option, but cant find it on Qantas' website? I see there is an option to buy extra points, which I guess is kinda the same thing.

You have the option of using points for the base fare and either cash or points for the taxes + charges, but that's the only option available AFAIK.

There is such an option for an AnySeat reward, but not really for Classic rewards. Basically you need to try to redeem with the appropriate AnySeat option. There is still a base number of points that it will not let you go under.
