Hey all,
Currently I have been using the Jetstar Mastercard (1 Qantas point per $1 spent - up to 100,000 points per year) for my day to day purchases where Amex is not accepted. To my disappointment/annoyance, I received an email from them saying they have changed their TOC's from 24/10 to the following:

From 24 October 2016, you will earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the first $2,500 spent per statement period, then 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent for the remainder of that statement period.

I put everything on my cards so I exceed the $2,500 "1-for-1" spend pretty easily. Thus I will be earning far less points from 24/10 onwards.
I took a look at a couple of other "1 Qantas point per $1 spent" Mastercard/VISA cards and found plenty of them have now introduced capping. For example:

Citi Rewards Credit Card - Signature with Citi Qantas Rewards (70,000 bonus Qantas Points)

  • 1 Qantas point per $1 spent on eligible domestic purchases up to $3,000 per statement period
  • Earn 0.5 Qantas points per $1 spent up to $10,000 per statement period

Woolworths Qantas Platinum Credit Card (16,000 bonus Qantas Points)

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the first $2,500 spent per statement
  • Earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent for the rest of the statement period

HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card (60,000 bonus Qantas Points)

  • 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent up to $2,500 per statement period on eligible purchases in Australia and overseas
  • 0.5 Qantas Points per AU $1 spent thereafter

Macquarie Black Card (40,000 bonus Qantas Points)

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases on up to $4,000 spend per statement period
  • Earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the remainder of that statement period with no points cap

I did note that the following cards appear to have no capping but still offer "1-for-1", however there is no promotion points to be earned.

  • Bank Australia Platinum Rewards Visa Credit Card
  • Qudos Bank Visa Platinum Card
  • G&C Mutual Bank Platinum Visa Credit Card

Seems there is a real trend towards points capping but lots of promotional points, or no capping but on promotional points!

What I am after:

  • 1 Qantas point per $1 spent with no capping (or 1 Qantas point per $1 spent up to say $6,000 per statement period, with 0.5 points for $1 after that)
  • Plenty of promo points (say 40,000)
  • not too worried about the annual fee (the promo points more then make up for it)

Any suggestions? It seems like I am asking too much nowadays :P

Not sure what the best option as I generally exceed the caps described above - any other options?

Have just been informed by Qudos Bank they will have the following chganges to their Visa Platinum Credit Card Changes starting 1 Dec 2016 .......... so this card is now not an option.

The Annual Fee will increase from $195 to $249
Points System will be capped to $200 000 per year per member
The First $2500 will be $1-1 Qantas Points = 2500 Points
Anything thereafter will be $1 = 0.5 Point

I'm wish qudos bank and certainly will be canceling my visa after the recent enhancement. There doesn't seem to be much reason to stay with them as they're not really offering much reason to. The card is quite expensive for little reward.

Citi Prestige is the only one I could find as I'm on the market for exactly the same type of card.

I dont seem to have points capping on my Qantas ANZ Amex card. Just earned 11,500 points this month. And a 40,000 (maybe 50,000?) sign up bonus.

I already have the Qantas ANZ Amex card (and got the bonus too :)) - I am more after a VISA/Mastercard when the merchant does not accept AMEX. My accompanying ANZ ViSA card only earns 0.5 QFF points per $1 which i find poor value thus I never use it (I think the ANZ Black card earn 0.75 QFF points per $1).

I have a few Amex cards with no points capping. The Holy Grail for me is a Visa/MC with 1:1, no capping for school fees and other places that don't take Amex or exorbitant surcharge to use it.

BOQ maybe an option... cactus for ATO.
