I note from the Qantas web site that the reward cost of SYD to SIN is 68,400 points. When I check for a flight on Wed 1st May 2024 QF1, the Business saver fare is quoted as 312,953 points which inludes 30% discount. What am I missing? Thanks,

68,400 is a Classic Reward, 300,000+ would be a Points+Pay option which basically takes a cash fare and converts it to points at a shocking rate.

As above this is the Points+Pay option which is purchasing a cash seat. The search defaults to this type of offer when there are no ‘reward’ seats available on the date selected with Qantas hoping you will select a seat at these rates.

On the filter make sure you select ‘Reward Seats’ then the search engine will only display seats at the reward rates. Just note however, for me at least, they will list all the options in particular economy reward seats even if you selected business seats originally.

Another trap to watch out for is to ensure if you are flying on more then one flight they both are in the class you want, if you are flying Melbourne to Sydney to Los Angeles it’s possible you will see business class and pay that price but only Melbourne to Sydney is in that class with the longer flight in economy. Just very carefully review everything before confirming.

Good luck, finding an international reward seat on the day you want is very difficult (unless booking very far out) and almost impossible for classes above economy.

Very true ... very true ... I have had some luck finding J seats on BA SYD-SIN or return, MH in Y, but no on QF.
