If one books a Points + Pay Flexi Fare is it then possible to use a complimentary upgrade?
Or, does it have to be a full cash booking?

I would suspect that the fare bucket used for that would be non-upgradeable, so no.
But I shall defer to those with specific experience...

If it is an 'Any Seat' points+pay booking then it would be booked into to a standard Flexi fare class (typically starting with L for these I believe) - this means it should be ok to use with a complimentary upgrade under the current velocity T+C's.

I would say YES. a points + pay booking is just a normal fare that just uses points like $$$$ + cash. would be following the same fare rules/ class of a normal flexi fare.

I just did a couple of dummy bookings - points + pay fare basis was LZDA, and cash fare basis was also LZDA. So on that basis, it should be upgradeable.

Also Velocity T&Cs state that only "reward seats," "codeshares," "tickets issued on another airline's stock" and "fares ineligible to earn points" can't be upgraded. Given that points+pay fares now earn points that clears up pretty much the only stumbling block, I would suspect.

Do all reward (points+pay) earn points, or only any seat rewards?

Oops, confusing terminology on my behalf there. I meant points + pay to refer exclusively to ASAs.

Of course reward seats do earn points at the moment but you can't buy a reward flexi so the point is a bit moot - the only way to buy a flexi using points is as an ASA.

When did that webpage get updated? Essentially, journeys that have more than 1 sector now get charged extra? How is the calculation now done - Eg. ADL->PER on a non-direct flight that goes ADL->MEL->PER?

This has been discussed in a few threads …. Using the above example MEL ADL PER would be regarded as 2 separate flights for upgrades.

You also have to remember that you also now earn status credits per flight segment ( the old way would have been MEL PER )

As a added bonus ….. people have earned J class status credits when they have used a upgrade!
