Apologies if this has been asked before. Long time reader, first time poster.

I'm looking at booking a flight to visit family in Mildura (MQL). I'm in Cairns (CNS) and was wondering if I book CNS - SYD - MEL via a JASA in business class using the minimum points, and booking MEL to MQL via cash only as economy, can I still check my luggage all the way through, or will I need to checkin the luggage at MEL for the second booking.

Sorry if it sounds complicated. Essentially I am trying to book business class to hit Silver Frequent Flyer (only need 220 status credits. will get 240 in business via CNS-SYD-MEL / MEL-SYD-CNS) using the minimum amount of points necessary.

Edit: Should also add my points balance is 122000, and I want to save some points for a business class trip to Canberra. Also hoping to hit Silver before Nov 18, as I am flying to Europe and the 50% bonus points will go nicely towards more flights next year.

Thanks,

Gavin

Yeah that can be done. All you have to do is complete the bookings and then call QF to put your bookings on the one PNR. Or get them to do it at the airport on the day.

Thanks. Didn't see the point in wasting 11000 points min for a flight that costs $79 (MQL - MEL)

PNR's cannot be combined. All the QF agent can do is have each PNR refer to the other and/or have information segments inserted into each PNR. (Note the latter seems harder to arrange these days - maybe QF management are discouraging the practice.)
