points upgrade domestic economy to business

I have followed qf967 tsv-bne 29/5 on ef this week. rows 1 & 2 blocked to me (gold), row 3 full.

qf showing no business class seats available during wk. (rows 1&2 still showing blocked only). just prior to 9am this morning (flt. dep. 9:25 tsv) seat 3c vacant. qf site showing business class available again to purchase.

i tried to upgrade with pts. but wouldn't accept it. my fare was eligible for upgrade with pts. i was within the 24 hrs. prior to flt. time limit.

just curious why i wasn't able to upgrade with pts. and seat was available. business class still showing as available for sale tonight on qf.

Are you seeing availability in the award inventory (U I think) - if not then the upgrade will not clear regardless of the seatmap showing an available seat in business.

Sometimes J seats will only be added to the UPG category in the hours before the flight, an ODU at the QP opens up 3 hours before departure. It's not unusual for QF to have a flight leave with empty J seats and no ODUs available, especially with TSV being a 734/738 port where seats have been known to go US.
