Another 1 night stay.Originally hadnt planned on staying in Gisborne but decided we should go to the end of the Classic NZ wine route.Fortunately you can taste all the local wines at the Gisborne wine centre at the Port.So for our stay.We stayed in a basic king room with port view-$150-the cheapest room s were $140 but for that you got a close up view of the car park.
The Portside hotel is rated number 6 on TA in gisborne but the 5 above it are cheaper motels. The room was reasonable, the bed comfortable.A reasonable shower. However no complimentary internet here.A cafe next door if you wish to eat.no pictures of the room this time but here is the view in the brief time there was some blue sky-
Now from those you have probably worked out the major cargo for gisborne-

yes logs. And the timber trucks go day and night,so noise and bright lights all night.fortunately reasonable acoustics but had to have the heavy curtains closed all night.
Unlikely to go back to gisborne.
