I just placed a "Click and Collect" order with Dan Murphy's, and paid with my Westpac Black Amex using PayPal. When I got the e-mail confirmation from PayPal, it shows the merchant as "Woolworths Ltd". I know that if I order groceries from Woolies online and use my Platinum Edge, I get 3 pts per $ - i.e. it recognises Woolies online as a "supermarket". So this got me thinking, if I used my Amex Plat Edge to pay online for a "Click and Collect" Dan Murphy's order, would I get 3 pts per $? (You definitely only get 1 pt per $ if you use the Plat Edge in store at Dan Murphy's - hence I normally use the Altitude Black Amex for 1.5 FF pts per $).

Has anyone tried this before? If not I might do an experiment next week.

(By the way, I know another way to do this is to buy a Dan Murphy's gift card at Woolies, but this would be an easier way to achieve it).

Interesting! It sounds like the BWS trick! Please let us know how it goes.

I do exactly what you do - Plat Edge at supermarket and Black for Dan's.

Do you guys still go for QF points on your credit cards??

I don't. I mainly focus on KrisFlyer these days, but the credit cards I use (Amex Plat Edge, Altitude Black and Citi Select) all allow transfer to multiple programmes, so I try to keep my options open until I plan to book something.

Yeah me too. I don't redeem QF much. I only get QF points via edr. But the mac bank visa plat is too hard to resist to get 40000 QF points. So I will probably sign up for that for some domestic trips.

Dan Murphys normal online shopping, not click and collect, in WA when I used it with my Edge card, comes up as "Dan Murphys" as the Merchant. I used it because of the $50 cashback promo. Almost makes up for another Starthere failure...

It was mentioned above... But to confirm, if one were to buy a gift card from Woolies (DMs or whatever really), it still credits as the full supermarket points?

Yes. There's a thread on this - search for "gift cards in supermarkets" in the Amex forum.
