Mr & Mrs PaulAus booked the lovely MEL-DPS via SYD after it was confirmed that the SYD-DPS leg would be an A330 with lie flat beds in J.

Fast forward to today having had a pleasant outbound trip and stay in Bali. I checked in yesterday and whilst the app says I’ve checked in, it also says The boarding pass cannot be issues as further details are needed.

This morning I started receiving inbound calls from +62 00000000. I thought they were a scam but I picked up the last one and just listened. The guy sounded Australian and said he was from Qantas Premium. I go ahead and call Qantas Indonesia and the customer service rep said that the flight is fully booked and that this was a legitimate call to try to book me onto an alternative carrier, but that we should not worry because they won’t move us as the agent hadn’t been able to get in touch.

Naturally given we paid for the tickets we’re quite keen not to get bumped, not least because we’re looking forward to the service and have plans arranged for our arrival.

Anyone else familiar with this and have a perspective on potential outcomes?

We’re about an hour or so away from DPS so will update when we get there.

Cheers

PaulAus

I had similar AKL-BNE.
Plane change to smaller plane,so they were trying to get passengers to do Alk-Syd-bne stopping for night in syd. I refused the change (2 kids to get to school and work to go to) when they did get through to me and got told we might get bumped at airport if not enough people "volunteered" to take the change. We made sure we got to the airport as checking was opening to ensure we were on the flight. Had no issue

I’m on to the DPS - SYD flight, I got to the airport super early. No drama but I suspect there’s a disgruntled passenger or two out there. I wonder what will happen on SYD-MEL.

Events like these are not uncommon and is not restricted to this airline. You have done the right thing and got to the airport extra early.

DPS-SYD used to be operated by a B747. I've seen it depart when it was -100 in Y 48 hours out with no issues. It all gets cleared up by the wonderful QF staff :)

Got to Sydney OK. They didn’t give us boarding passes for SYD-MEL when we were at DPS but our luggage had been checked through to MEL (although we needed to clear immigration with them). The agent at Domestic transfer check-in at SYD thought it strange they didn’t give us boarding passes for the SYD-MEL leg when checking in at DPS. I wonder why we didn’t?

In any case, thanks for the feedback in response to my Post
