An ex Jetconnect FA is a regular poster on FT. Last week he posted information on the 4 Class Pacific Route 744 configuration. This information is in this FT thread:

Hey guys,

VH-OEG will be the first Pacific configured aircraft with Premium Economy due out by months end.

Premium Economy will run after Business Class and looks something like this. T = Toilet
-----------------
34 AB-DEFG-JK
35 AB-TTTT-JK
EXIT EXIT EXIT
36 AB-TTTT-JK
37 AB-DEFG-JK
38 AB-DEFG-JK
39 AB DEFG-JK
-----------------
Economy starts from for 51 with 51 HJK reserved as crew rest seats.

The new configuration of this aircraft will now be 14F/66J/40W/187Y
Qantas.com have not published a seat map for this configuration as yet.

Anyway, while looking at some transpac flights I noticed a 744 (QF11) with W and T classes.

Looking it up on Expertflyer, I was able to glean seat maps, here is the new Y+:

Here is the abbreviated WHY configuration:

I haven't been paying much attention to the threads on the new premium economy product. Is row 51 now the first row in economy? How much further back in the cabin is economy on the new 4 class configured 744 aircraft?

If it is as far back as I can imagine then I think the time has come to avoid the 744s with 4 class configuration or look for routes with A330s....

Or just stump up for the W ticket and get the extra room...

Have a look at where row 51 starts in this seat map:

At the exhorbitant cost of airfares for premium economy I am not interested in the extra leg room. I generally get exit row pre-allocated anyway and what concerns me is where I am sitting in the aircraft using the wings as a reference point.
