To get this platinum membership you basically opened a new membership which was automatically Platinum. Agree? OK

A new membership card will be sent out at the completion of your first stay. Agree? OK

So therefore my real question is this...
When you first check-in at a property (you dont yet have a new Plat card), does the property know that you are a Platinum member even though you dont have a Plat card to produce at check-in. (ie will they know you are plat and might be lucky enough to get upgrade, freebies etc)

Ok thanks for that. Thats different from the sites T&C"s which I have copied and pasted below
An e-mail message is sent immediately to the new Member, confirming membership
in the Program and the Member number. The Member is then entitled to fully benefit
from all Program-related services, including access to various features on the Le Club
Accorhotels Web site (checking the Le Club Accorhotels points account, converting
Le Club Accorhotels points, etc.), recognition by all Accor Internet sites and call
centers when making reservations. The Card is sent after the first stay.

I think it works differently for Platinum cards which get sent upon gaining the status rather than for the non status card wich may be sent after the first stay.

Ok I can understand that if you were an existing member and after x amount of stays and points you get promoted to Plat then you would get a new card automaticaly sent to you, and that makes sense, but what about the likes of me and a number of others by the sound of it, who have used this link and signed up from a nothing, straight to a Plat member. Will we get a card automaticaly or will we need to have a stay first. Then I go back to my original question and that was "will my Plat status be known to the hotel on check-in, without having a card to produce ??"

Call and ask them maybe.

If you still don't have a card, take a screen print and produce it if needed.

Really the only benefit you are guaranteed with this are "Accelerator" bonus points.

If you book the room after your status upgrade, then the hotel should see your status automatically. If however, you booked before the upgrade then the hotel is likely to only have your old number on the system.
