I had to cancel a flight I had due to the current Melbourne Covid outbreak.
I got a flight credit.

I've found a date I can travel, when I am on the normal Qantas page I can see the flight is $95
When I click the link to use my flight credit that fare isn't there and I'm only faced with a fare of $190

The original fare was $95 (part of the Half Price Fares deal) so why can't I book that again? it is the same fare for the exact same route, just a different day.

I really don't want to have to call because the wait times are just too long.

Solution
As above. this is a known condition of the flight credit - original fare booking class and conditions will still apply and QF will require a higher fare to be purchased. These conditions are, more or less, provided when credits are issued.
Sometimes online I've found you can only book a higher fare class, but if you call up they can book the same fare so you might be able to give that a try. Do you have any platinum friends that could call for you? Wait times were non existent last night and this morning

Sadly this is a known issue with vouchers so probably also with flight credit. You will have to call - good luck

Solution
The ability to request a travel card (instead of traditional credit) was supposed to remove this issue. Also allow you to use a credit across multiple new bookings.

Actually, this was supposed to be removed for Credits issued via in relation to COVID-19 forced cancellations under Qantas Fly Flexible Policy.

It clearly states a fare EQUAL to or higher in value so I should be able to purchase the exact same one!

yes well we know what we're supposed to be able to do and what the Consistently Inconsisent(tm) allows :p

tbh I had always thought it was a higher fare class as well as.. but it may have changed over the past few years.. specially with covid changes per above.

Very frustrating either way.
