Well after my recent hotel stays, I am just over 1100 points short of Platinum in Priority Club.

I'm considering my options to get the additional 1100 odd points.

If I transferred the points from Amex, would they make up the status needed?

It is my understanding that they do. Just note that they don;t convert at a 1:1 rate though. From memory it is like 10 MR = 6 PC.

Cheers, you are correct on the conversion ratio as well:

5 Membership Rewards Points = 3 Priority Club Points.

I just transferred 2000 MR points, and will find out in a few days if they count for status (I assumed they do, just wanted someone to confirm it!)

I Think that you can buy points on the PC website to upgrade .I bought points to upgrade to Gold PC, they cost about $10 US per 1000 points, check it out I think that this is a quicker solution. REGARDS.

Yes I realise one can purchase points from PC and also 10% bonus points available until 23 Noivember.

In the next few days I will purchase 20,000 points, 22,000 including 10% bonus, but it will still leave me 1,753 points short of Platinum. I have a night booked for HI Parkview, Singapore early December which will get me over the line.

Another consideration would be to transfer 3,000 Amex MR points to get PC Platinum before the Singapore stay or book another $90 room at Rooty Hill early December and get PC Platinum that way.

... still waiting for them to be transferred.

Looking at "My Redemptions" on the Amex site, it is showing:
"Request in progress" which is the same it's been for at least the last few days.

Have heard from other sources that your first Amex transfer to Priority Club can take some time, and the Amex site does indicate that it may take up to 14 business days for the transfer to take place.

I went back through my records looking for my transfer (when I had 1000 points to use up as I was closing a card). Took about a week to go across and they did count toward status.

Thanks for that. Still waiting (10 days now). One part of the Amex site says 3 business days for transfers to Priority Club, another says allow 14 business days. I'll call if they don't turn up by next Friday.

Quite annoying really, as these 1200 points will push me to Platinum and I want the card in my hands for a hotel stay coming up!

Points transfer failed for some reason that Amex can't work out:

"Request has been rejected by partner".

PC Number is correct, address is correct, name is correct. Everything is correct!

It's been deleted. then resubmitted. Should only take a few days to come through (should it work properly!).

I'm wondering where to go next if it gets rejected again.

New request for transferring points worked properly (and only took overnight!)

So Amex points definitely count towards status (when they post correctly!!)

Well done, Mal. Now to fight you for the upgrade to suite when we stay at the same hotel on the same night.

Hehe, I always enjoy a challenge ;)

The funniest thing about it all (and I'm not worried about it going missing either) is that the first Amex transfer actually made it's way into my account after it was cancelled - as well as the second.

So I ended up with 1200 free PC points courtesy of Amex or PC. Thanks - I think that was a worthy set of compensation for the hassles I went through!

The same thing happened to me in November transferring points to QF. They bounced back after being pending for several days, and Amex automatically sent it through again - this time all aok. Then all of a sudden last week the points dropped in again, so i got an extra 3,000+ points in my QF account!

Interesting that points adjustments from a previous year count towards current year membership status.

I should have received 1,000 PC points for booking online promotion in December but the points did not post with the stay. I emailed PC and they posted the points as an adjustment and these points count towards membership status for the current year.

Thanks John. I'm still chasing up one for last year myself. A nice little bonus if I manage to get them.
