Problem choosing seats

Hi,

I've just booked an award flight using my UA balance and the flights are entirely on Thai. I have been issued the UA confirmation and have the eticket number, however I cannot choose seats on United's website, nor can I access the booking on Thai (as I don't have a confirmation number from Thai). Can someone provide some guidance as to how I choose seats, as presumably the good folks here have been on flights with Thai, given they're a major alliance partner in the region?

Give up worrying, wait until check in. It's Thai, your aircraft may change anyway I recently flew TG on a simple paid ticket SIN-BKK, issued by travel agent and the travel agent couldn't select a different seat, nor could I via the TG website, even though I could access seat map and it showed heaps of empty seats.

Best bet is to call TG with ticket number (in the absence of TG reference number, otherwise call UA and ask for TG reference number) and request a seat directly over the phone with TG.

i got my TG PNR from UA website.. as shown above.. if you cant find it, you can call UA and get it from them..

And it's a pain to change seating for my TG flight as well, i can see the allocated seats but not change it.. called the call centre, and they mentioned they cant change it as well...not sure because my flight is in the next 2 days....

Good tip, thanks for that. I actually called the Melbourne based TG agent and they were able to assign seats using the UA e-ticket number. When I had called the UK TG line they absolutely refused to...so...there you go.

Not to say they won't change it on me, but at least it's possible to set what you want initially. I'll check UA website to see if I can't see them...

There's a known problem trying to assign TG seats booked via UA awards. Other partner issued awards on TG don't seem to have that problem (ie the 'select seat' function works as normal).

News to me, and I've been 1k/plat for as long as those levels have existed. Perhaps give us a real-world example or two.

Sorry - miss-type - it should be other partner awards issued on TG don't have that problem.
