Folks

In the last couple of months I've had problems accessing the Qantas web site from my Mac (Safari is the browser).

I'll be looking at award bookings mainly and then an error message "Request Entity Too Large" appears  and I find I can't do much of anything on the Qantas site from then on. Re-booting the Mac is the only apparent cure.

Has anyone encountered the same or similar problem?

Paddy

I have only accessed Q.com using Firefox and never had any probs using my Mac Book Pro - have you tried using any other browser?

No problems here. I have 3 different macs, all running Safari (variuos versions), and no troubles at all.

Google seems to suggest a problem with Java Maybe.
Have you run a Apple Software Update recently?

I understand how you feel, I hate firefox on mac ... seems to be slow and blotted. Maybe chrome ?

I'm running Firefox 3.6 on OS 10.6.2 and it runs as smoothly as you like.

I'm no computer whizz, but run software update, then repair your disk permissions with Disk Utility, restart again, and see how you go.

I was getting the same error message a few weeks back when I was trying to do some award bookings. I am on XP/IE8 and the only solution for me was to cancel the session and start again. Very frustrating when you are trying to snag 3 award seats to the UK and back next Christmas.

If you have had the same problem with Mac/Safari then it does sound like a Java applet issue. Either that or the Qantas site was having issues.

It hasn't happened for a while and I have applied no updates so I blame Qantas

What version of OS X/Safari are you using, Paddy?

Using Safari 4.04 and Mac OS X 10.6.2 - and have no outstanding updates. Will see about Java updates given the XP issues raised.

In meantime have downloaded Firefox to see if that's any better

Many thanks for the quick responses

Didn't take too long to find I have exactly same problem in Firefox, and Java is up to date - next stop Qantas tech support...

This issue can be sorted by clearing cookies from qantas.com - Safari menu>Preferences>Security>Show Cookies, search for those from qantas.com and delete. Have had this a few times and that's usually resolved the issue - but you're logged out of qantas.com after this has been done.

Hehe.. I work for a large University faculty that uses macs.. and the number of clients that think that I have said to reboot is unbelievable.

In saying that I also get a large number of clients that thing repair permissions will fix anything from a broken dvd to a dislocated shoulder! :-)

YouTube - Have you tried turning it off and on again?
IT crowd shouts it best

Does your ISP use a proxy server? That could potentially be causing issues - proving it one way or another would be a royal pain, but it's an idea.

For what it's worth, I've not had any problems using Safari with the QF site.

LOL to that... I told you I wasn't an expert !

I think I'll stick to flogging handbags and champagne.

Hello

This is possibly related but I wouldn't swear to it. Recently booking award seats with QANTAS (Mac/Safari) I would get thrown out once it came to paying the taxes etc. I eventually had to ring QANTAS and they completed the booking. Now - their explanation was that it was a problem integrating Cathy Pacific flights (I was flying with them) into their system but - now I think of it, it could have been the Mac problem equally as well. Anyway - they were very helpful and charged no fee to complete the booking for me
