Anyone else having issues with making posts on AFF, such as typed letters being skipped, not able to post smilies, flickering of red underlining of mis-spelled words? - on a laptop? Also, can't highlight (eg to bold).

(No not talking about mobile version iOS!). My internet connection and laptop otherwise fine. Taken me ages to type and constantly correct this.

Edit: Laptop has oodles of resources - not working hard at all.

Yes it is taking me ages to post as you have to look at each letter.I also couldn't post photos as usual yesterday.
I'm glad it isn't just me.

Update. I'm now on Chrome, and AFF is working OK.

Still not working properly on IE11 (no Microsoft jokes, please), with additional issues being that I can't paste text or pics. Also, there is no 'cancel' button to cancel a post!

I have cleared cache etc and no problems with memory of laptop etc and everything else on laptop works fine.

Suggestions to fix, welcome!!

Mine is still playing up and I have not recently installed any upgrades. So an example-
Theoly w Ican atepitusetc is Rcick ovr the curor.
The only way I can paste pictures etc is to R click over the cursor.

Again, posting this from Chrome without problems.

Thanks for the idea, but no, no updates or changes for me, from Friday night when everything was fine, to Saturday morning when things went to heck (no background updates either, that I've found).

Other symptoms are a constant 'thinking' circle spinning next to the words 'quick reply' at top of posting text box; and when I put the cursor outside the typing box, it turns into a constant hourglass.

It's as if something is gobbling up CPU - the on-page display can't keep up with typing (if I type very slow, most letters and spaces come out) and it doesn't have the oomph to paste text or images the usual way. But task manager tells me that there is definitely no strain on resources.

I also just updated Java - no change. I also don't have the iPhone version loaded on my phone any more.

As drron and I have the same problem I'm hoping it might have been some change in the background (maybe to do with compatibility with iPhone version?????) which admin may be able to explain. But why its only affecting a couple of us (so far reported), I can't say.

Again, further suggestions welcome.

Interesting. I'm having no issues typing at a fairly quick speed over here.

It honestly sounds like something on your end, but you'd have no doubt noticed the fans in your computer running quickly and noisily if the processor was under extreme load.

I am having some a lot of he ameissues with the re nderlines and replieswith ranom characters o m Windows 8.1 laptop running Internet Explorer IE11, a stock standard setup. Am also haing ssueswit using bold italics etc

Also getting the endless spinning circle when attaching pictures but they seem to upload OK using the basic uploader anyway.

Its also interesting that I was having no problems editing or viewing comments or replies on a very old work PC running Windows XP with Firefox - so it looks like something is definately broken in the Windows and possibly IE part of the world with the AFF web site. Its so bad I had to type the rest of this on notepad and then copy and paste into AFF to complete this reply.

No need for that language juddles, remember AFF is a family-friendly website. I've alerted admin so we'll hopefully have an answer soon. Perhaps an ad is taking over the resources on certain web browsers/operating systems?

I would 'like' that comment - except that the like button has als gone AWOL from AFF Windows IE11!

My apologies samh004 and others - frustration won over my common sense - thanks for editing - was going to do that :)

I have sent a PM to all those who experienced issues. Hopefully this problem is already resolved (or will be soon). Apologies for any inconvenience.

Ok, re-started IE and now test-1-2-3. Typing seems to be fine, now. No spinning wheel and cursor behaving.

Now for the paste test: Quoting from an airBaltic press release on One Mile at a Time:

The Latvian airline airBaltic regrets to inform that its flight BT7843 from Oslo, Norway, to Chania on the Greek Island of Crete was delayed by 4:45 hours due to its crew removed from operating the flight. According to the currently available information, four out of five crew are under initial suspicion for alcohol abuse, and they are now undergoing a careful medical examination to determine the actual blood alcohol levels.

Safety is our top priority and airBaltic is in process of careful investigation of this situation. airBaltic has several layers of control mechanism to ensure the safety of all airBaltic-operated flights. Procedures are in place to ensure potential mistakes of human factor are addressed. airBaltic has temporarily suspended the involved four crew until the investigation is completed.

airBaltic thanks the Norwegian airport and police authorities for their contribution towards enforcing airBaltic safety principles.

airBaltic apologizes for the inconvenience and delay caused to our customers. airBaltic reiterates that it has zero tolerance for diverting from the safety principles and, as soon as comprehensive investigation is completed, will evaluate additional safety measures in cooperation with aviation authorities.

OK - all dandy (except for airBaltic!) - thanks, admin :) .

Here we go testing and all seems normal.
So a random picture-

.

So all's well.

All looks very well indeed! However as I've noted to admin, when I go to paste an image now, using the regular upload image button on the toolbar (tree-in-a-frame icon), I only get the option to upload an image from a URL (no, not using the hyperlink button); no option to select from HDD.

Which way did you load the above pic, drron?
