I thought I would share a very interesting questionnaire from JQ, relating to a proposed add-on to Club Jetstar memberships.

The proposal basically provides for Qantas Points and SC earn on all JQ flights (even if no bundle is selected), for those that sign up to the add-on.
Considering the new bundles now sold by JQ have been “enhanced”, I found the proposal to earn additional QFF points & SC extremely interesting.

If this proposal does in fact get off the ground, in most situations frequent flyers have the ability to earn stronger QFF points & SC earning potential than the previous bundles sold by JQ.

The proposed “QFF extra’s” add-on was floated as costing an additional $119 per year (on top of club Jetstar membership) whereby proposed benefits include SC & points on a basic fare, similar to discount Y fares on QF, whilst flex fares appear to earn back at the full Y rate for both SC & Points.

Also proposed was QFF points earning of hotels and packages booked via the JQ booking hotels platform ( no QFF points are currently earned on JQ hotels) , and some scenarios proposed for a 10% discount via Qantas wines to those who sign up for the new add-on ( points club plus members already receive this benefit)
Also proposed was Current club Jetstar members would receive a slightly cheaper renewal rate for their standard membership fees as opposed to new members and discounted QF lounge entry passes were floated for international flights.

Did anyone else complete the survey and what were you thoughts?

Proposed. Jetstar, Good luck with that.

Sounds a little "too good to be true". But who knows?

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card:

- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

Given it is around what you would pay for 2 x max bundles on a return mid-range domestic trip, it would probably be a no brainer for anyone who was taking a JQ flight and wanted SC earn.

I don't think it makes a lot of sense for JQ though, won't it just cannibalise QF revenue?

The $119 vs benefits of more points/SC will, depend on how many JQ flights a person takes and the bundle selected. The new bundles have me spending less with JQ, given I don't need SC this QF ff year.

Depends if JQ & QF fly the same route at about the same schedule. For my common route QF & JQ fly different days/times. So nothing to cannibalise. I select flights on schedule and not price, with ff miles/SC a long 3rd consideration.
I suspect a lot of JQ flyers are not chasing QF status, but have 3 considerations when selecting flights: price, price and price.

edit
IMHO on AFF & FT posters put too much emphasis on the effects freq flyer programs. We are in the 5% who understand the ffp and care. 95% have little interest, even if a signed up member.

The point was about flyers who have a choice between say QF, JQ and VA on a given route/schedule. Earning SC / points in QFF is going to be more of a drawcard for a QF flyer who could leverage cheaper JQ fares on overlapping routes but continue to credit to their current FF program, it's much less likely to flip a VFF customer to QFF flying JQ.

The options in the survey have gone live. Also they have capped QFFP & SC at discount economy . No more going to a JS flight with max bundle to get cheap flexible economy benefits.

The ability to get flexible economy went.out the door at the last set of bundle changes. Economy Max is no more...Flex Plus is the highest now, and that does not get Flexible Economy.

Club Jetstar Flex (i.e. the old Max) would sound too good to be true, noting that it is a $119 increase to the membership.
