Highly recommended for travellers preferring a contemporary style of accommodation rather than boutique style. Open less than a year so everything still sparkles. Staff are just amazing ... they genuinely want to engage you in conversation (or at least seem to genuinely want it) and nothing seems too much trouble.

Our room was large, modern ... impersonal perhaps to some ... ultra-clean and with a fabulous shower with flexible wall-mounted shower and "tropical rainforest" overhead.

It's within easy walking distance of the riverwalk and the CBD and a couple of shopping malls. The buffet breakfast (included in our room) was the equal of anything I've been offered in any Asian hotel and head and shoulders above many.

We paid $513AUD for 4 nights, including breakfast. Rates not including a Friday or Saturday night are cheaper.

Really? When I stayed there I found it sterile, the staff completely unwilling to engage the customer, and of course, did not recognise status with accor. But that's pretty standard across a lot of accor!

It may just be that I was there when there was a big convention on at the same time ... but still ... never once did I get a staff member helping out on their own volition, whether it was opening a door, offering to help with bags, help grab a taxi etc. Heck I just about had to jump up and down to even get them to check me in! The staff may as well have not been there, I'd have had a more pleasant experience by doing an electronic check in!

Conversly, the hilton down the road went above and beyond to help me - and I never actually stayed there! A few times I got caught out late at night where you can't get any taxis (my dodgy bahasa malay doesn't help!) and they came to my aid, calling for them and even sitting me down in the foyer with a water.

The 4 points is excellent. Location not the best ... but the best staff I have ever come across, gorgeous rooms, AMAZING food (decently priced too!), and generally half the price of the pullman.

Well there's a mini review of the posh hotels in Kuching :)

Isn't that amazing ... so different from my experience!! To me, the staff were the strongest point of the Pullman ... from the maids to desk staff to concierge to ... whatever. They were just brilliant when we were there.

My company recommends the Hilton for our staff, too ... but apparently it is undergoing renovations which are causing some disruption.

We were MORE than happy with our choice of Pullman.

There's a reason YMMV is spouted so often :)

I was also there quite a while ago when they were very new - so staff training may have been incomplete.
