Here's a short review that I have just submitted on Tripadvisor.
We stayed for one night in a studio villa right by the lake. The resort is a good base if you want to spend time around Margaret River as this is one of the best hotels in the area.
I was told that the resort was built about 9 years ago and was previously a Quay West (still comes up as Quay West on the credit card terminal!). With the good quality building materials used, the villas and the public areas didn't look that old at all.
The resort also has a private access to the beach, so you can just walk out in your barefeet and hit the sand within minutes.
The villa contains a very comfortable king bed. The toiletries are Roger Gallet (not the made in France variety though). The spacious shower has good water pressure. You can also walk out to the deck and enjoy the view of the lake and the water feature. At night time, the frogs got a little noisy, but with the windows closed and curtains drawn, the noise level was ok.
We had dinner at The Other Side of the Moon, the onsite restaurant. The food presentation was generally very good. The food was above average. I had the special entree being mushroom soup with spicy sausage. The soup was served in a Le Creuset cocotte and tasted fantastic, but it could have been less thick and less porridge-like. The main of beef cheeks was beautiful. The prices are at similar levels to other 5 star hotel restaurants, so they're ok. The full buffet breakfast had a good selection with fried and poached eggs cooked to order (free). The scrambled eggs need some improvement. Barista coffee costs extra, which was a bit of a let down. There was only a self-serve coffee machine on the buffet table.
In terms of the standard of service, I found the staff very friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the waiting staff at the restaurant. When I had trouble using the room safe as it was locked after the previous guests, I called the front desk and the staff member came pretty much straight away. Check in/out was a breeze.
I would definitely stay there again when I'm in the area.
