I'm not sure this is "travel news" as it's really just rumour (I think) but I've heard PX are intending to fly a direct commercial service HGU-CNS VV.

The new Kagamuga terminal should be open very shortly, so who knows (or perhaps that should read....who cares).

PX = Air Niugini; HGU = Kagamuga Airport, Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.

The PNG Government is also providing financial assistance to PX for international flights into GUR (Gurney Airport, Alotau in Milne Bay Province). It was originally announced that the flights would be coming from BNE, but it is much more likely that they will also come form CNS, using the new F70 planes. Flights to HGU and GUR are to commence before October 2016.

Unfortunately (for me) PX have abandoned the direct CNS-RAB (Kokopo in East New Britain Province) flights.

Whats PX and HGU?

To add to Tawita, Mt Hagen is PNGs third largest city and they even have a high rise building. Their new airport terminal is looking very swish indeed (from the tarmac at least), but I wouldn't call the place a tourist destination! ;)
