I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this, but whenever I travel on international business with my partner, I seating allocation always gets changed. I noticed this travelling to Jakarta over Christmas where my original seats 2K/3K got changed on 2F/2K on an equipment change. The funny thing is that the summary page says my seating is 3K 2F 2K, however when I drill into the seating map only the 2F/2K are selected. This happened 3 times for the Jakarta flights. The only problem is that when you get closer to the actual flight, other people tend to select the window seats if you haven’t picked up the error in time. The same problem has now occurred for a future flight Bangkok where now it’s too late to fix the seating reallocation, as the seats are now occupied. I’m just wondering how I can correct the problem.

I wonder if it's because Qantas can't decide whether they want to use an A330-200 or 300 on that route. I don't actually know how to best preserve your seat even if you know an equipment change is coming.

Same thing happened to my wife and I at the start of March flying MEL - SIN. Aircraft was changed from international A330-200 configuration to the domestic config less than 24 hours before departure and our specifically selected 1A, 1E so that we had the bassinet for our 7 month old daughter was changed to 7E, 7F with no option of moving anywhere else. I ended up bringing it up at check-in which then required speaking to a supervisor who then spoke to the lounge and as those in our original seats arrived in the lounge they negotiated a swap but had they said no there was nothing they could do, even though we had a very specific reason for needing 1A. Thankfully no such issues on the way back.

This has happened to our QF30 from 300 to 200, may change back, who knows!

We had selected window seats 4K & 5K on QF51 BNE to SIN in July. Due to equipment swap seats are now 4K (window) & 4F (aisle) with toilet where 5K was. All seats in mini cabin (rows 6 & 7) are available so can swap so we both have window seats. Any thoughts on pros and cons of the mini cabin?

The mini cabin is nice and quiet - after take off. Minor annoyance during boarding as Y PAX will walk through even if they are boarding through L2. You may struggle to get service and your meal of choice might be gone before they take your order. Unless you're P1or WP and a thoughtful crew member comes to take your order at the start of the service.

@Scash @esseeeayeenn agree, same for us with September QF30.
On final leg we often choose 4&5A or 4&5K window seats.
With recent aircraft change, have chosen 6/7 K mini cabin.
Being an overnight flight, not too fussed if we don't get meal choice as will dine in the Lounge first.

Thank you @esseeeayeenn. My thoughts were similar. I'm not too fussed about food choice as I eat most things :D .

Thanks @Flyfrequently. Will wait till T80 and see if any window seats open up in the main cabin then.
