Hello, I am trying to clarify whether Qantas is using the A380 consistently on the QF9 flight from Singapore to London (Except Wednesday's...currently) and if anyone has flown on this routing recently and has had to fly on the 747-400 which they are using for the Wed flight?

I am due to fly out on a Thursday evening and hope that the A380 plane is used as described in the flight details.

I suppose this thread is also releveant to the return leg from London QF10 which offers the A380 each day of the week except Thursday.

If anyone has noticed the consistency of the plane offered on this routing I would appreciate it. Many Thanks,

Blair

Cheers Serfty, thanks for the kind welcome,

I was aware of how to locate the aircraft type that is scheduled to fly, however, I was Interested to hear if anyone has rocked up in Singapore (Or I suppose Melbourne where QF9 originates) to find that the A380 has been substituted for the 747.

Having read, and not totally understood, the current Implementation Schedule for the A380 on the Qantas website I wasn't sure how often the A380 was used on this route at the moment.

Thanks,

Blair

Both methods I indicated drag the information deom "Amadeus" - the booking system that Qantas uses.

The aircraft type returned is accurate. If it changes, so will the results provided.

The closer you get to the date the less likely changes would occur. "IRROPS" are another matter.

As far as QF9 goes, it is currently scheduled to be operated by a 388 5 days a week (744 the other two).

I do know qantas want to get this back to daily 388 as a signature route.

Has anyone heard any updates about the timetable for the 388 being 7 days a week. Recently made a J booking for October and mildly disappointed to see it is still the 747 (on a Wednesday).

Nothing much is going to change until the next two aircraft are delivered, and Nancy comes back from her holiday.

Here's a timely article from today's OZstralian:

Clipped A380 heads to hangar for $100m fix | The Australian

WORK will begin early next month on the detailed and expensive job of getting back into the air the Airbus A380 superjumbo whose engine exploded spectacularly in flight last year.
...
The repairs are expected to take the rest of the year to complete and one of the last jobs will be to be replace the giant engines before the superjumbo, the first to be delivered to the airline, returns to service.

QF9 is a daily 380 service except for Wednesday and QF31 is a daily 380 service. Can't wait for QF introducing them on the BKK route.

I have similar reservations as the OP. I'm travelling from PNG to Finland and back specifically with Qantas to get a chance to fly on the A380. My return leg will be on a Finnair operated flight so my only chance of getting to fly the A380 is on the QF9.

Having bought the tickets already, I just realised that I had forgotten about the QF31. Since I'm going from Cairns to Singapore and Singapore to Heathrow, QF31 would've been almost identical. Would've left about 30mins later and cost exactly the same.

Do I need to worry about the A380 being replaced by a 747? Would the QF9 be generally a "quieter" flight since it's originating from Melbourne? Any seat (economy) recommendations, front, rear, middle? Thanks.

Welcome to AFF MacinJosh :D

It's possible, but unlikely, that the equipment operating your booked flight would change from a 388.

As for seat recommendation, what class are you travelling and what status have you with Qantas/onewould?

I'll be in cattle-class (economy) and I'm Bronze with Qantas.
