So far all commentary I've seen about QF A380 returning to LHR has been from November next year. These flights are now loaded into GDS.

BUT... in the December Qantas magazine, Alan's little column says "We're also bringing back our largest aircraft, the A380, earlier than anticipated, to fly to Los Angeles from late March and to London from July".

Hope this is correct!!

Remember those magazines are prepared some months in advance. I am not sure how much you can take from that line given the constantly changing landscape.

I don’t click on ET links, so do we actually have a new start date. And more importantly which date will the points plane be! Because l will be booking this one!

VH-OQB back from Dresden a few weeks ago only being moved around by the look of FR24 history.

At the welcome home event for the a380 on Nov 9th Alan Joyce said April 2022 for SYD-LAX and July 2022 for SYD-SIN-LHR…I was there 😉

Hi all, am trying to book a Syd - Ldn return for Jun 28 returning Jul 29. I can see Classic Reward First Class availability on QF1 and QF2 (on A380s) for both these dates. However, when I searched for the flights on the Qantas site (using money), the exact same flight shows up on these dates as B787. Furthermore, if I click on the flight information, this is what's showing up:

Notice the aircraft type is showing as A380 but under 'Inflight Amenities', it mentions aircraft type as 787. The same information is displayed for the QF2 flight for Jul 29.

My question is, would it be a waste of my time (and money / points) to go ahead and book these flights? Or should I wait for further concrete information from Qantas regarding their plan for the A380 for these routes in June/July? Many thanks

Book them ASAP

I suppose my concern is that given there is still no concrete information regarding the deployment of A380 on QF1/2 for June/July 2022, how likely is it that Qantas will change the plane type back to B787 (thus no First Class), which means I'll have to cancel the First Class classic rewards booking (forget about letting Qantas rebooking me lol)
