AFR is reporting on a story of LA based Qantas engineers alleging intimidation by Qantas that they may lose their jobs if they unionize. In response to such allegations a spokesperson for the airline disagreed with such characterizations claiming that its Australian workforce is predominantly unionized. Whilst that may be a true statement, it should also be noted that this is the same airline that illegally outsourced 1700 ground crew in Australia as well. And that's not an allegation, that was what the court found, lest anyone think I am engaging in libel. Qantas illegally fires workers. It doesn't matter if they are in a union or not, that is what the court has found. Who am I to argue with the finding of the highest court in this land, the High Court of Australia who dismissed Qantas' appeal of that ruling?
Qantas accused of intimidating LAX engineers
The airline strongly rejects the claims, which come as LAX-based mechanics and maintenance workers push for collective bargaining rights.
