New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

It’s a real pity this issue wasn’t rectified during the Reno

Especially since they no longer allow non-flying visitors you have already diminished the Group volumes.

Aside they ought have SOME idea of the pattern of travellers (solo to couples to family groups etc) to know how to configure the lounge seating

Agree. If we occasional travellers know this then how come they don’t.

I have no issues asking someone seemingly hogging a quartet if there is someone else sitting there. And I’d ask for them to remove bags from seats.

Maybe the regulars (and occasional) visitors provide feedback?

Is the current QP config final? Or will there be additional space once by all works are done?

The artist impressions of the J lounge look huge.

There will be less space than the original because part of the lounge is being converted to a proper Business lounge.

The dom J wines are IDENTICAL to the QF Club wines so
Perhaps as part of improving the customer experience they COULD improve both J & Y wine offerings
I did a Qantas Research panel online the other day , targeting wine and food offerings/improvements for J lounges @CaptJCool
Hopefully they are getting the message.

Didn’t take any of the immediate front section. Cause it’s relatively full

The Beach Hut wine sounds fetch

Flyer de lys by Seppelts be ONE of my favourites (sparkling)

Koonunga Hill. Pengolds prob the lowest on their scale ?

Called it on that Koonunga Hill. Premium by behind! Could be worse....could be the Rawson's Retreat (is that still a thing)?

Actual space looks really nice though. The white marble looks like what they use extensively in the F lounges.

Is the sandstone natural finished, or with a seal? If no seal, it will be grubby soon with people leaning up against it. Lounge looks great, though.

T'Gallant is a nice little winery here on the Mornington Peninsula - the pictured red sells for $9 at our local IGA liquor store @CaptJCool 😀

OK, so you are up to date! Since Thursday 14 Nov, no more Business Lounge, AKA old Chairman Lounge. Expect new business lounge in 6 months (from unnamed Qantas staff), if it hasn't already been posted. I'm back again 21 Nov about 4 pm.

Was your partner able to just walk up and use the lounge pass without linking online?

I have a lounge pass that I'd like to use for a trip out of ADL at the start of December, but i'm not sure if works will be complete and the restriction will be lifted by then. Can't link online at the moment.
Sorry for the very delayed response. It had to be linked online.

IMO, the new lounge is awful. The two aisle seating at the entrance are very cramped. Bench seating at the sides and individual seats in the middle. When it is busy you have to run the gauntlet of bags and feet to get to the end. The place may look nice but not very practicable or welcoming. But then why should they. They don't encourage you to linger and they want you out ASAP! One group gathered some of the individual seats, thereby effectively blocking the aisle, but then it was at the end so no bother, however it gives you an idea of what can happen.

Does it look like a temporary thing while there’s reduced capacity? ie when the J lounge opens they might reconfigure?

That is permanent but when the mods are completed access will be available from both ends, I was told. It will still be odd with those on the benches peering at those in the seats in the middle. The previous arrangement gave a modicum of privacy. I will have access to the J lounge for another year so hopefully will have a better experience.
PS. Lots of bangs and crashes and floor heaves from behind the hoarding so work must be progressing.

PowerPoints and wireless charging EVERYWHERE! Good stuff.

Bar is nice as well. Very happy that ADL finally getting some love.

CaptJ, we probably crossed paths, was there the same time as you this afternoon!

When there are several more people it begins to look cramped and at times, when it gets busy, no guest are allowed. ( I couldn't get a USB port to work, even with two different cables). Would I go in again, well, yes.! Needs must!

It was absolutely chockers when I got there at 0500 ahead of the 6 am bank of flights. Agree that the aisles are very difficult to navigate when there’s people sitting down. Especially when you’ve had an hour sleep and the line for coffee would make you miss your flight. If arriving around 0530 I’d probably suggest/consider just getting a coffee from the grab and go section and going outside to a quiet gate until the 6 am flights go out as getting a table is near impossible. Once J lounge opens however I’ll expect this to be much less of an issue and will probably have nicer things to say about it :)

But there shouldn't be too many WP in the J lounge as they direct them to the original Chairman's area. I guess it's the Business class people in there though.

Maybe QF could take a leaf from VAs playbook?

If people complain the lounge is too full, change the rules to ditch a few elites 🤭
