Qantas and Zip + DSC

Morning all,

Bit of an issue.

Was booking flights last night in time for end of DSC deadline.

Booked the bulk of them with my CC with no problems, and they all showed up in the QF app as confirmed bookings.

However, for my final booking, I used Zip Pay.

On the Zip app it's telling me that I've made a payment to Qantas, but my eticket didn't immediately arrive.

I thought that something strange might have gone on, but as the Zip transaction went through, and that booking briefly appeared on the QF app, I didn't think too much of it and went to bed.

I woke up this morning to an email from QF telling me that they are holding flights for me for that particular booking if I pay before 1159PM AEDT tonight, and now it's dropped off my QFF account. No eticket was issued.

Zip still showing the transaction.

What on earth is happening here?

I mean, I half suspected that something wasn't right, but the booking was showing on my QFF account. I wasn't going to book that same flight again, that would have been unreasonable.

Obviously QF are going to say bad luck re DSC, which is a bit unfair. Surely they can see that I booked a whole lot of flights and I can reason with them.

Does anybody have any insights and/or advice regarding this?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Bit disappointing.

TIA

Never happened to me as I don’t use Zip. But my thoughts are…..

Did you happen to obtain the PNR of the booking that appeared on your app?

If yes, when the booking does reappear in your app check to see if the PNR matches with what you previously saw. If they match, then the PNR has been preserved and that may lock in the booking date to be within the booking window and you might/should be ok.

If no, then you might have a problem. Obtain and retain as much evidence and information of the transaction and payment history and timing of events as you might have to lodge a claim for missing SC’s after the flight is taken.

In any case, you probably need to ring QF to sort out the payment matter to at least get them to resolve the confusion at there end and match your zip payment with the QF ticketing process.

I caught the booking reference but that was it. What's PNR again?

Same thing. The booking reference is the PNR locator - PNR being Passenger Name Record iirc. Anyway it's the location of the booking in the GDS(Global Distribution System eg Amadeus).
