Hi, first time here, but thought I would throw this out to see if any one knows the deal with this:

I had a flight cancelled on Sunday due to the industrial dispute. Logged into my Qantas FF account today and "Qantas Antarctic Flights- QPY Airport" came up as a booking for November 14th. Has a flight time of 8:25.

It is 'Flight 3' of my cancelled journey and when I click to view the booking, it comes up with the destination noted as 'mystery flight'. Not sure if it is some sort of sight seeing trip as a peacekeeper for those put out by the cancellations, or just some sort of placeholder for a ticket in lieu of the cancelled one. I'm a FF platinum member.

Any thoughts? Happened to anyone else?

Would just most likely be a way to make an 'open ticket'.

Those other flights are sold by another company AFAIK, only operated by QF.

First time post for me, also, but I have a similar entry on my Bookings page.

Was in Manila and due to fly out on Monday 31 Oct. Before services were resumed, I had booked with Singapore, for myself and for two family members accompanying me, all in Business.

Not a word from Qantas at the time or since, about the cancelled flight, despite long time Plat status. Will be interesting to see the outcome.

I have one of these booked flights showing up as well, departing November 13 from QZX to QPY. I'm excited. Just have to decide what to pack.

The paper did say Qantas were arranging a special surprise for those of us who were affected by the grounding.

What happens of you've already cancelled your flight for a refund.

This is just an open ticket.. These ports are also 'fictitious ports'

If there is any doubt about what these "flights", look at the booking reference it will be the same as your cancelled bookings. So they are not some great bonus surprise. Unfortunately....

A free domestic ow/rtn flight, or to NZ (rtn?) was mentioned as a sweetener for those affected by the QF grounding.
