Why should qantas continue doing this they do not have business class seats to sell
They must be breaking the trade practices act . they are misrepresenting what they are selling

Thanks for your insight.
So qantas can sell tickets in a class to their frequent flyers ,that BA dont to their frequent flyers and because "most people believe it is a waste of points......" I should accept it ?
just so you know the cost of an economy ticket is 175£ as opposed to what should be 10k points not bad usage from my point of veiw.
As well as that your suggestion that it is a BA issue is wrong ,i am using my qantas points BA dont ripoff their frequent flyers in this way .

That is not what people have written in this thread. To repeat: it is not a big issue on AFF because most here would not waste their points. That is a simple statement and there is no need for you to over analyse that statement.

This is a BA issue because BA are telling qantas there are business seats on the flight. Again that is a simple statement, I'm not sure what is difficult to understand.

BTW please try to quoting a post in your reply. It is extremely difficult to understand your posts otherwise.

There are a few sites that offer J on BA's LHR-GLA and vv. In fact my (experienced) TA actually bought me a seat on one until I pointed out that there was no J offered by BA on that leg.

It's not just QF.

This thread is hilarious.

The OP has disagreed with or contradicted just about every suggestion that has been made.

If they are looking for sympathy then perhaps they should look elsewhere.

Agreed, i am so confused. Pointless thread.

Actually it is not pointless.

Aside from some level of issue with posting style, the OP does indeed have a point.

Qantas is selling award tickets for BA flights on routings that BA themselves don't sell.

Question though! Would a booking actually confirm, or would an error come back?

Revenue tickets will fail as there is no revenue fare loaded, not sure in regards to miles "fares" but I reckon as those are simply distance based they will be processed as per normal IE LHR NCL is this many miles, a J award is so much, ticket issued

As serfty points out in post 12 they have loaded the through fares booking in J class

best thing is have a look on Expedia for BA SYD to NCL, you will see BA incuding the booking classes used, you will see that the LHR to NCL sectors book in J...

It's an anomaly caused by through-fare construction for combinations with long-haul segments, as suggested above.

In addition, it is fairly and squarely a BA problem. If they are advertising J inventory in the GDS, then the Qantas booking engine knows no difference. The lack of fares being loaded would stop anyone booking it point-to-point.

Boy, I'm so sick and tired of people trotting out the TPA every time they don't get exactly what they want. I'm not entirely sure how you would apply the TPA, but go for your life.
