Does anyone know how to contact Qantas Baggage Services in Terminal 1 at Melbourne Airport directly?

I had a bag go missing on an Air Canada flight on 23 June between Montreal and Toronto. Lodged a claim with AC and they found the bag and forwarded it to Melbourne with Qantas handling the last leg from Sydney to Melbourne on 29 June. Since then, the bag has sat at the airport and not moved, which we know from the AirTag in the bag. QF cannot/will not help as the reference number is an AC one (have had multiple calls to their Australian baggage phone number. I am told that there is no direct number for the baggage services at Melbourne because "too many people wanted to call them directly to find out about their bags". It is now four days at MEL for the case and with AC not responding to email contact on the World Tracer sit, not quite sure what to do, other than have someone drive out to the airport and try to find it themselves!!

Any update? Last time I tried to talk to QF baggage at MEL it was a total fail because the baggage office was unattended - not sure if really unattended or just that the people were out the back and avoiding customers. So in my case going out to the airport did not help at all - although it was "only" a pair of expensive prescription reading glasses that I was trying to re-connect with. In theend I just gave up as I live in CBR and it got all too hard once I returned home.

I have a numbers for Perth baggage (08 9270 9433) and lost property (08 9270 9504). Someone there might be able to give you contact details.

To be honest it's pointless calling Qantas if it isn't even with Qantas. That's why I asked for the routing of the bag. It could still be with Swissport, DNATA, or cabin services Australia at the international terminal.
Dnata baggage area sits right outside of Qantas at T1.

As the last known ‘touch’ of the bag as far as the customer knows was Qantas, and it’s now at MEL, isn’t it reasonable to try to contact Qantas in Melbourne to try to retrieve? Qantas might say “call SwissPort” and that would be progress.

It's lost property. Not bags.
Lost property in the airport actually goes directly to the airport authorities.
Thanks, I noted that it was lost property - my point remains - do they think that things only get lost Mon-Friday short business hours?

And it might well be that lost property goes to the airport authorities as you say, but that is NOT what I was told or experienced when I chased up my lost specs. I was told they would be at baggage if found, and I was eventually reunited with them several weeks later (after a hell of a lot of effort on my part and friends and family in MEL) at.....baggage.

Thank goodness for a distinctive glasses case!
