Very tempting, such a tight booking window though.

Amazing deal. I might try it, though I don't need the SC's. Points are always useful. Of course, I would have to book a little side trip to somewhere else from PEK to avail myself of the TWOV facility.

Does TWOV have to be on the one ticket??

I see it doesn't so a PEK-HKG/TPE/ICN-PEK ticket would work

You mean if you are combining that itinerary with a SYD-PEK ticket? That would be ok. For TWOV you would have two itineraries: SYD-PEK-HKG and ICN-PEK-SYD. In both cases PEK is the transit. (The rest of the ticket including TPE is not relevant.)

Note: the link you have given now contains outdated information. As per a thread I started a while ago, TWOV at PEK is now based on scheduled arrival and scheduled deaprture time. It does not start running at 00:01.

It certainly would.

However, being late to the game, the cheapest SYD-PEK-SYD fare I can find on Qantas.com is $519.80 AUD, all-in, which isn't too bad.
