Hi All,

Just a question about Qantas' 'blocking' of seats. Whilst I am not 100% sure, it seems that there is either someone fixated on sitting next to me OR Qantas have blocked the one seat next to me on all legs from PER - SIN - FRA.

Just to test I have continually switched from 23J - 23B and back on the A333 over the past few days. Within two or three seconds the seat next to me (previously free) has been filled, leaving 23A & B free. Then when I change back to 23B both allocations from 23J & K immediately jump over and fill 23B and 23A (the same is happening on the SIN - FRA leg). I haven't requested a block and I am only a lowly QP, but the loads on each flight appear pretty low (>9 in 95% of fare buckets). Could this just be Qantas being nice, or am I really being anonymously stalked by another pax?!

Cheers

They may be auto blocking it since that is a bassinet seat for babies is it not or only the middle ones ?

Anyway it would be a computer doing something, it could also be that they are blocking it to reserve it for WP passangers.
In reality unless a WP or a mother with baby needs the seat you may well have a free seat beside you.

I believe only the middle bank (D, E, F and G) are bassinet seats on the A333 and on the 56J/356Y 744.

You do this online? I thought seat allocation was only done through the frequent flyer service centre. Have I missed a recent QF enhancement that allows selecting seats?

Nope. I have been pestering the lovely people at the QF Call Centre ;)

I initially though that too, but that the second occupied seat seems to follow me despite two free seats in A&B suggests that there is something 'bigger' going on here.
