Qantas Business Class Upgrade - MEL -> SIN

Out of the option - yes I'd take 1A or 1K. Both of which are fine. Keep in mind that the toilet is not really in front of 1A. It's in the forward galley next to the coughpit (technically on 1A side).
Thanks so much 1K is confirmed

On a Qantas 789, 1K is different from most seats in that it has a little glove box under the monitor. (1A, 10A & 10K have the same)

I am in 1K tonight SIN-MEL; chose that over 1A to be away from the sunrise.

Any tips for travelling around in Singapore. Just use the taxis? As I heard Uber doesn’t exist there.
Grab is the equivalent. Tends to be slightly cheaper than taxi but fairly close. You can also order food from it. Useful all over South East Asia.

Go pick up a SIM(eSIM) unless you're literally there for a day. You get around 100 GB for $12 SGD, usually easily beats out roaming costs.

Keep some cash for the smaller hawkers and stalls if you plan on visiting those. Otherwise you can tap at most stores.

PT is very solid and exceptionally cheap. You can either get one of the various fun EZ Link cards or charms or just use your lowest foreign fee visa/MasterCard/Amex.

Lots of Aussie cafes (or Aussie style) so if you miss Melbourne coffee you can definitely find good ones in Singapore.

It's a melting pot of stuff globally. So you can also find US chains, Japanese chains, Chinese chains, Taiwanese etc.

I don’t think they do Amex on the MRT?
My recollection is that I had to use my Visa.
I could be wrong though

Perfect. Yes I sorted out the Singtel $12 eSIM. It actually doesn’t let you set it up without being in Singapore. Luckily I’ve got an IT degree. If anyone else wants to set it up prior, ensure you’re connected to a Singapore VPN. You will also need a GPS spoofer so you’re location services thinks you are in Singapore. Once those are both active it will allow you to process your SIM. As soon as I disconnected it said welcome to Australia.

Got no cash. I’ll download Grab then.

I’ve setup wise as a digital card. I had a revolut card ready for cash withdrawal. However, im hoping I can just use payWave with Wise. Revolut is a pain up to 72h deposit time. $1.73 in Apple Pay fees to deposit.

I use my AMEX as I like the points. What is the latest and greatest way to pay these days?

There is a +++ for using non SG bank paywave.

I used the train to get from McPherson with my ING Visa and the pre auth. Was ~AUD2.90 for what I had expected to have been SGD1.88 for a native card.

Stuff all in the general scheme of things and I was aware there'd be an additional charge for a foreign card, but am surprised by the seeming magnitude.
