Hi,

Using the Qantas points calculator () I get an estimate that a return trip from Melbourne (MEL) to Honolulu (HNL) will cost 52,000 points total.

In the Qantas booking system using points, it is suggesting that one way will cost 145,700 points for the 'saver' economy fare. I am looking at flights in March 2023.

This doesn't seem right. Am I doing something wrong here?
Hello, What is the best way to calculate a CP and PNR not for an exam , but for real life flying! also a way to calc a CP/PNR inflight aswell. That is simple.

Welcome to AFF @notele . I wonder if you are not using 'CP' and 'PNR' the correct way? I don't know what CP is, but a PNR is assigned to a pax's itinerary at the time of booking; something like GF456T. No calculation involved.

What are you trying to calculate?

@notele, I'm ignoring the abbreviations and having a crack at what I *think* is confusing you.

I'd suggest that the 145,700 price is for an 'Any Seat Award' where you pay the cash price as points. The price quoted in the calculator is for a Classic Reward seat, which is a much lower price and therefore more difficult to find availability. Here's an example of the 26,000 Classic Reward one way:

More likely OP has just clicked the result of a search (the quoted post has the word "calculator" in it) when looking for details about a flight planning question. (Dont ask who could make that mistake yet be doing flight planning exams - doesn't bear thinking about!)
