The 1300 659 116 number would only route to SA/Fiji call centres while the 1300 025 396 number would normally route to HBA/AKL call centres.

My personal experience has been even 1 hour of wait time to talk to HBA/AKL would be worth the wait, as you'd normally spend much much more time on hold with the SA/Fiji call centres.

One of my recent involuntary re-routing when routed to SA ended up with the supervisor insisting additional taxes and fees to be charged despite being advised differently previously by HBA (and a note left on my PNR). Call (3 hrs long at that point) was disconnected mid sentence and a very strongly worded note was left by the SA supervisor. My call later in the day (once I've found the 1300 025 396 number), despite waiting 50 mins before being picked up by someone in HBA, was much quicker and issue resolved in no time. Mind you, this is despite the agent have to contact their supervisor to have the note from SA supervisor overridden.

Moral of the story? Avoid the SA/Fiji call centres at all costs if you want your booking intact and not be charged unreasonably.
