Mal for 16,000 points you could check out the J lounge for us.

Depart around 8:30 arrive Canberra 12:00pm have a look at the open day at Canberra airport and then fly back at 7:10pm.

I looked at going to Canberra for the day but then the price went up more than I wanted to spend.

I'll be using it next Thursday evening. If no one else has posted a review by the time I return at the end of the weekend I'll give my take on it.

Unfortunately I fly into Canberra late tomorrow night so won't get a chance but will report back after using it on my return on Monday night..

Is there anything in particular people would like me to check out?..

What's on offer food wise. The CBR QP has been the best catered domestic Qantas lounge for a while, so wondering if the J lounge takes over that role, or whether it exceeds it.

Hope it is ready for tomorrow, went passed it today and the front door doesn't appear to be painted.

Hopefully it will be ready for Tuesday when I can have a first ever visit to one of these business lounges.

Here's a thought, is this the only place where all three Qantas lounges are so close (CL, QP and B lounge)?

Well in Melbourne the CL borders the QP and the JLounge is in the QP, so can't get much closer than that...

Even Syd comes close. CL lounge is next to J lounge, which is accessible on the back wall (via a corridor) to the QP lounge.

In here as I type...still has that new car smell!...

Strictly Platinum members and Business Class travellers....saw a couple who were refused a look inside

Overall pretty relaxed (especially when compared to Canberra QP!). Not too many people here either..

Food is a touch better than I've seen elsewhere..more hot meals..some pastries and savoury rice of sorts...wine is the usual fare..

Haven't used teh showers or toilet yet...so can't comment

Summing up lots of marble and granite...

Sounds like a good reason to get there early tomorrow and savour the experience. :)

The first part of my TR.

As pointed out, to get here - up the escalators from check-in and turn right (i.e. not in the same location as the Qantas Club or Chairman's Lounge). This new lounge is not just a sub-division like in BNE, SYD & MEL!

At the top of the ramp, and nice floral arrangement and frosted panel whet your appetite.

The main lounge area, not the best spot if you like tarmac views! (P.C.s are lined up along the wall at the back, going off shot to the right.)

That's further than I got. I had to wait for an incoming passenger, so I usually take my computer up to the QP and get a drink until their plane pulls in. I usually just wave my shiny card, but when I tried this at the Business Lounge, they wanted to see a boarding pass as well. As I wasn't flying, this was the tricky bit.

So I went downstairs to the regular Qantas Club, and waved my shiny card and they said, there's a Business Lounge upstairs for you, sir.

Grrmmmphhhmph, I said.

Next Friday night I'm off to the Gold Coast - will have a fare dinkum BP then. And my wife.

Overall I thought the Canberra Business Lounge was quite good when I visited Thursday evening. Qantas certainly kept to their word about there being plenty of hot food and it was regularly stocked up.

While there is a lot of seating, when I arrived (appx 6pm) it was getting quite full. However, the lounge staff weren't doing anything to restrict members bringing in guests. Shortly after I arrived there were about 10-12 people standing around as there weren't any seats left. At least the food didn't run out. :)

After about 40min the number of people in the lounge reduced a fair bit as a few popular flights departed.
