Hi all,

Does anyone have an idea what the cancellation policy is for Qatar airways booked with QF on points is?

Is there a time frame of how far out you must cancel? I am guessing I would get slugged the points cancellation fee (6,000 points or something like that)

Thanks in advance.

You can cancel any QF Classic Reward booking up to 24 hours prior to departure. AFAIK, it makes no difference what the operating airline is. The fee is 6,000 pts per passenger - the rest of the points and all of the cash component should be refunded.

Thanks, might have to cancel my Mel-DOH-AMS in Biz for March, so keep an eye out if they pop back up on reward bookings.

You can generally cancel at any time up until the scheduled departure time of the first flight in the booking. If the cancel/change 'button' is available this can generally be done online without having to call.

A 6K point fee will generally be assessed.

See 14.7.4 in conjunction with 14.7.4(f)

You could wait right until the day prior to departure and hope that Qatar makes a flight change, Qantas fails to reticket in time .. bam free cancellation.

You only need to wait for the flight change. Free cancellation applies then, don't need to wait for reticketing.

Is there a time limit (reasonable) on requesting the refund from the time of the change?

No, but once you accept the changes, you are stuck again. I guess in theory the airline could call you and ask you to confirm, but I haven't seen that happen.
