I am taking my first free eccon ticket to LA. What are the chances of getting to the check-in and asking to pay the upgrade difference in points ( 15,000) to change to premium eccon. will they do that on the spot?

To change the booking online/phone will cost me an extra 3,000 points which would suck.

I presume you are on a classic award, the chances at check in are nil, QF does not do paid upgrades which is what is being asked! I would look at making a request on the flight loading seat availability thread as to the seat availability before planning any change, there may be no seats to upgrade/change to.

Zero chance of upgrading with points at check-in. Only way to upgrade at 'check-in', would be with cash and would be the difference between the original fare to the new fare or a brand new fare!

yes it is a classic award ticket. I mean upgrade with more points.

the lady on the phone said she could do it but it would cost 3,000 x2 to change. so just woundering if i get to the checkin and the seats are there, surely they would be happy for the upgrade then..

I still think the answer would be no. QF do not allow for "paid upgrades" at check-in

You should grab this whatever the points change cost - Z class will dry up very quickly on pacific route (P - First award,U - business award ,Z - premium award ,X - economy award)

I have never heard of anyone being able to change an award like this unless the QF staffer is saying that you can cancel the Y award and book a Y+ award unless this is rebooking as a Y+ASA... For the sake of 6K points on a 200K award I would grab the upgrade!

As others have said forget about using QFF points to upgrade at check-in. The facility to do this does not exist on international flights and only exists on domestic flights in the lounge.

If you really want to sit in premium economy then 6,000 QFF points is a small price to pay.
