Qantas today announced the sale of the annual Good Friday Charity Flights, which will help raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital.
Qantas will offer seats on a special Good Friday flight to Australia Zoo, as well as mystery flights over the Easter period.
Qantas Regional General Manager Victoria, Mr Ken Ryan, said the airline was committed to a range of community projects through its 'Sharing the Spirit ' program and hoped to raise vital funds for the hospital.
"Everyone who supports the flights and purchases a ticket is helping to raise money to ensure that all children with life threatening illnesses receive the best possible medical and clinical care," Mr Ryan said.
"Qantas has been supporting the Good Friday Appeal for over 20 years, and the ongoing community support of the Good Friday Charity Flights has enabled Qantas to collect close to $2 million for equipment and to help fund research projects that assist the many children treated by the hospital each year.
"The flights are made possible thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of our staff, including pilots, flight attendants, reservation and airport staff who volunteer their time for the flights and our partners and suppliers who donate fuel, catering and waive landing and air navigation charges."
Mr Ryan said Qantas would offer two charity flight options:
* A day trip to Australia Zoo, Queensland on Good Friday - 21 March for $299.00 per person (all-inclusive). Price includes return flight from Melbourne to Brisbane, coach transfer to Australia Zoo, zoo admission and a reserved seat in the live "Wildlife Warriors 101" performance.
* Mystery Flights for $169.00 per person (all-inclusive). Price includes a day return flight from Melbourne to an Australian mainland capital city with a minimum of six hours at the destination. A choice of departure dates is available, including Good Friday - 21 March, Easter Saturday - 22 March or Easter Sunday - 23 March.
